My girlfriend's favorite flower is the plumeria. I know they're a tropical plant... and that they grow in trees/small bushes in Hawaii. But, my question is... is there any way to send her plumerias for our aniversary, just like most guys would send roses??
Can you "send" plumerias???
You would have a hard time sending Plumerias for an anniversary--like roses. I have a beautiful Plumeria tree that I grew from a small piece of the stem of the plumeria tree. You can take a piece of the tree limb and stick it in soil and it will root nicely. I have done this for several friends who liked the plant. Plumerias love plenty of sunshine and moist soil. My plumeria is yellow and is in bloom presently- it took about 3 yrs to get the rooted cutting to grow large enough to bloom. Why not give your friend a rooted cutting in a small pot and tell her to watch it grow for a yr or two and then it will bloom. The smell from these flowers is heavenly something like vanilla. Be sure to take inside in the winter because the cold will kill it-- It will drop all its leaves in the winter and will look just like a stick--but keep it in a garage and stop watering it until danger of frost is gone and then put it back out side in the sun and it will start to bloom in late June/July in the south. I can understand the love of this flowering tree--It makes you feel so good to walk onto the patio and smell this wonderful fragrance, if you ever get hold of a pink one -- please let me know-- I have never seen a pink one, but would love to have one . Mine is a beautiful yellow. Good luck and start one today by just breaking a piece of the stem and sticking it in the soil of the plant you have --it will root. You might call a florist in Hawaii and have them send a small blooming tree to her.
Reply:I wanted to add about the plumerias that the bloom is here today and gome tomorrow--it blooms and is gone by the next day-- so try to send a plant in a pot. Such a sweet fragrant thought--i am sure your thought of sending some thing this nice is so appreciated! Report It
Reply:You had better start calling florists - fast! Plumerias would be special order and they aren't commonly used outside of Hawaii. You can order the whole plant on the internet from dealers in Hawaii (US delivery only without agriculture certificates - all other countries require special documentation).
