Have just purchased a small, what was described as a "malayan magnolia" - not in flower - and unfortunately the seller didn't know the botanical name.
The leaves are lightish green, soft (not stiff), veined, quite hairy, downward hanging and pointed - more lanceolate.
The seller - who is well known to us and trusted - says it grows to about 8 feet, with a somewhat weeping habit and has huge white, fragrant flowers.
At the moment, it looks like it has a spreading habit.
The bark is fairly smooth - except up around the leaves where it is a bit downy - and light in colour.
We live in the tropics and are well acquainted with the usual (previously) michelias and magnolias - coco, champaca, alba etc.
Help appreciated. Thanks. :)
**Especially appreciated would be any links to info and/or images.**
